AURIPIGMENTUM
Plinio l. 33. c. 4. l. 35. c. 6. Arsenicum luteum dicitur, quod unum Vetustissimis hôc nomine cognitum, inter colores picturae utiles habitum est. Cum eo sandaraca in iisdem fodinis reperitur, et quidem in Mysia et Hellesponto inveniri, tradit Dioscorides: cum rubrum Arsenicum, in aliis fodiatur metallis, et in Ponto ac Cappadoc ia eruatur, Armeniâ item, unde Armenium videtur absolute dictum. Inter austeros autem colores Auripigmentum eidem Plinio recensetur, h. e. minus lucidos floridosque, nec tam vegeti intensique luminis, adeoque obtusius pinguiusque relucentes: quales quoque ochra, sandaracha, sandyx, Scyricum sinopis, rubrica etc. Vide Salmas. ad Solin. p. 199. et 1155. item infra Elichrysus.
